Part1：

In 1865, Jules Verne wrote about moon landing with a space gun in his science fiction novel From the Earth to the Moon.

In 1969, Apollo 11 launched in the location described in Verne’s novel, at a speed similar to that of the space gun, and successfully landed on the moon.

In 1968, 2001: A Space Odyssey, a science fiction movie adapted from Sir Arthur C. Clarke’s novel, was released. In the following fifty years, science fiction scenes described in the work were made into reality one by one, including moon-landing, space station, voiceprint recognition, video call, tablet PC, and AI chess player. One cannot help but be astonished by the predictions made by science fiction.

Are these just coincidences?

Human beings proclaim themselves as the most intelligent specie among all creatures in the planet. They give everything a name and set attributes for them. But, if one looks up in the stars, one will find that human beings are just a dust in a universe measured in light-years.

In such a vast universe, the only thing human is worth being proud of is our boundless imagination and creation.

Immigration is without distinction of region, gender, age or race.

Imagination transcends time and space.

Creation reshapes everything. Creation gives a future for humankind.

See what you want to see. Touch what you haven’t touched. Build what you don’t have.

The ability to imagine and create makes humankind go further and further in an infinite universe.

Part2：

In 2015, a group of scientists, investors, science fiction writers, engineers and community activists from Shenzhen, a city of future, founded Science and Fantasy Growth Foundation or SGF, the first public welfare foundation dedicated to promoting science fiction in China. The Morning Star Science Fiction Contest Series were launched in the July of 2015.

In the following four years, one nationwide contest was added every year, making it a series of contests, including Morning Star SF Writing Contest, Morning Star SF Art Contest, and Morning Star Film Industry Contest.

Over the years, 3186 entries were submitted by 2985 participants across the country, including SF fictions, scripts, art illustrations, animations and short videos. The total word count of entries is over 30 million. A total of more than 1.5 million RMB prizes were awarded to the winners. More than fifty talented content creators were discovered through the contests. Eighteen winning books were published or are being published. The contests attracted extensive coverage of China’s mainstream media, reaching over 25 million audience. It has now become the number one SF IP generation platform and one of the most influential contests in Chinese SF community.

In 2017, SGF launched the Morning Star Film Industry Contest, in order to build a bridge between capital and film industry. Ever since, Morning Star SF Contest Series became the only comprehensive contest in China that cover every section of the whole SF industry chain.

In 2018, under supervision of China Association for Science and Technology and support of Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, SGF organized 2018 China Science Fiction Convention. This nationwide event not only fostered the communication and cooperation of SF industry, but also strengthened the position of Shenzhen as one of the SF highlands in China.

Furthermore, SGF builds a strategic partnership with Utopiales, an annual international science fiction festival held in Nantes, France, which is the oldest, largest and best-known of its kind in Europe. The partnership brought Chinese SF artworks to Nantes, and French artworks back to Shenzhen. This formulates a communication platform for Nantes in France and Shenzhen in China, two cities of both modern fashion and rich cultural atmosphere.
